Muslims believe in One, Unique, Incomparable God; in the Angels created by Him; in the prophets through whom His revelations were brought to mankind; in the Day of Judgment and individual accountability for actions; in God's complete authority over human destiny and in life after death. Muslims believe in a chain of prophets starting with Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Jesus, peace be upon them. But God's final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message and a summing-up of all that has come before was revealed to our beloved Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, through Gabriel. The MSGD was founded in June 2009 by a few committed sisters in our community as a private summer gathering in Newtown CT to tutor their children about their beliefs. This community grew steadily into a ‘school’. Over a period of the following two years, with more children enrolling and the addition of Programs for New Muslims, Youth, Women etc., the ‘school’ evolved into the ‘Al Hedaya Islamic Center’ with a multi-cultural Muslim Community vision that reflects the core Muslim values of moderation, education and outreach. Our community includes about 100 Muslim households from Arab, African, European, US, Central and South American, Chinese, Thai, Filipino, Japanese and South Asian origins. Our ethnic and national diversity reflects our community’s rich cultural heritage and Islam’s enduring message of peace and justice. The Muslim Society of Greater Danbury offers Religious Services, Educational & Language Programs for Children and Adults, Special Events for the Muslim Community such as Eid Festivals, Weddings, Births, Funerals etc. and Seminars, Lecture Series, Retreats, Camps, Workshops etc that are of Topical Interest to all of the extended community in the Greater Danbury region. The Al Hedaya Islamic Center welcomes neighbors, local/regional ethnic, religious, secular communities and town/region/state officials to participate in our Programs and develop a better understanding of Muslims and Islam.
