MISSION STATEMENT The Masjid An-Nur is an organization that aims in providing services in accordance with the Quran & Sunnah, while understanding and adhering to the challenges of the American Muslim experience. Our goal is to provide a safe-haven for all Muslims to learn, educate themselves with the teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad [Peace & Blessings Upon Him]. Each chapter under Masjid An-Nur Foundation will build on this mission and grow in its own realm. OUR STRUCTURE In following the Sunnah & adhering to the Islamic law, Masjid An-Nur has adopted the Islamic democracy advent, as the governance criteria to adequately manage all its affairs of the organization. Our full- functioning operating panel consists of dedicate Board Members who have been carefully chosen by the members of the Masjid An-Nur Family Network. For more information please contact us by email, see contact us page for more details OUR GOAL The Masjid An-Nur objective is to strengthen the faith of Muslims and improve their understanding and practice of Islam.· To promote unity and brotherhood among Muslims.· To establish daily congregational prayers, Jumaa (Friday) prayers, Ramadan programs, and Eid’s at appointed times. To maintain various Islamic services, e.g. weekend school, adequate services, weekly halaqah sessions for women, men, and youth, hafiz program, and Quran classes.· To conduct social, cultural and other activities within the scope of Islam.· To promote friendly relations and better understanding between Muslims and Non-Muslims. OUR VISION The Masjid An-Nur Foundation vision is to provide appropriate and comprehensive training and development for the community· To develop and maintain suitable and viable economic ventures that will help our community towards financial stability· To provide premier social services that will enhance the well-being of Muslims and non-Muslims.· To facilitate suitable recreational programs and activities to attract our members and improve their quality of life. To invite people to the religion of Islam. OUR HISTORY Our humble beginings are truly an embodiment of our everlasting identity. The An-Nur Foundation was established back in 1995 by 10 founding members who met at each other’s residence to pray in congregation, recite the Holy Quran and form a union of the Muslim Ummah. In 1996, with Allah's blessings & mercy upon them, these same members & their families successfully purchased a private property in the north east part of Baltimore county. Thus Masjid An-Nur Foundation came into existence. They quickly sought proper designation of a Non-Profit 501(c)3 designation with the US IRS and became a vested "House of Allah." Twelve years later in 2008, another blessing by Allah (swt) was given to the Masjid An-Nur community, a successfull purchase of 4.4 acres of land, with an estimated cost of construction at $4-5M. Furthermore, in 2010, the foundation purchased the adjacent car dealership that was being liquidated by the Chrysler Financial Corporation for $2.75 million dollars. Equiping the center with 38,000 sq ft of existing building space in several seperate buildings. As of today one of the buildings (5,000 sq ft) serves as the full-time musalla and academy. We are extremely blessed by Allah (swt) in providing ample space for the community and look forward in utilizing each area of the compound.
