The Qu'ranic verse quoted above is the mantra of the Islamic Shoura Council of Bakersfield. We chose this verse as our guiding principle because we believe Allah (SWT) commands every Muslim community to work together in mutual cooperation towards obtaining righteousness (Birr) and piety (Taqwa). The Islamic Shoura Council of Bakersfield is an independent body of Muslims representing the Muslim Community of Bakersfield with the main goal of promoting knowledge and lifestyles based on authentic Islamic teaching, which leads to a high standard of morals, ethics and character. The Islamic Shoura Council of Bakersfield consists of Muslims in Bakersfield who support, believe in and practice, to the best of their abilities, the tenets of Islam as established by the Glorious Qu'ran and the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad (SAWS), his companions and the three righteous generations referred to by the Prophet in the authentic (Sahih) hadith.
