St. Louis Islamic Center "Džemat Nur" (STLIC) is the youngest Bosniak congregation in Saint Louis and part of the Islamic Community of Bosniaks in North America (IZBSA). The congregation was founded as a result of the growing need to organize the growing Bosniak community in Saint Louis. STLIC members expressed their desire to establish an institution that, together with other Bosniak institutions, would work to preserve Bosniaks from complete alienation from religion and tradition, with a special aspect and programs focused on preserving our children and youth from complete assimilation, and religious-moral restoration of the Bosniak Corps in Saint Louis and beyond. Jamat Nur started its work on April 1, 2010, and on June 1, 2010, it got its first permanent imam, Sherif ef. Delica. In a very short time, Jamaat Nur implemented a large number of religious, cultural, educational and other programs and gained a reputation among the population. One of the first projects of the Nur congregation was the construction of a modern Bosniak Islamic center in St. Louis, which began with the first donor evening on December 4, 2010. Three years later, on November 9, 2013, the foundation stone was laid on the purchased land, so that the opening of the mosque would follow after three and a half years of construction, on April 1, 2017, with guests from Bosnia and Herzegovina and America, including the reis ul ulema Husein Kavazović. Today, Jamat Nur offers many programs to its members, as well as to all interested parties. Imams in the Nur congregation are Shefik ef. Delalović and Eldar ef. Malkic.
